Legislation has been filed that the Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers (FCCC) say “include legislative solutions to diversify Clerk revenue, support staffing needs and account for services with no funding source.”

“For a long time, Clerks of Court have operated within a funding model that makes it challenging to meet our operational needs or provide enough support for critical public services,” said FCCC President and Suwannee County Clerk Barry Baker in a press release. “This legislation would help us get much closer to a sustainable system, one we’ve been working toward and building on with similar legislation over these last few years.”

The bills in question are SB 1470, sponsored by Sen. Travis Hutson, R-Palm Coast, and HB 1077, sponsored by Rep. Adam Botana, R-Bonita Springs.
