Woman claims restaurant discriminated against her while she was pregnant
A Hernando County woman says she was discriminated against at work because of her pregnancy.
Ashley Holton filed her federal lawsuit against former employer Lei-Lo Tiki Hut alleging violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Florida Civil Rights Act.
According to the complaint, Holton says she experienced discriminatory practices at work after revealing her pregnancy to Lei-Lo Tiki Hut owner Mylanna Tuck. She says Tuck complained about her pregnancy being a potential liability for the restaurant and subsequently reassigned Holton’s more desirable shifts to another bartender.
