Nonlawyer Ownership

In the February story, “Board details opposition to proposals,” it isn’t entirely clear on which groups are actually advocating for nonlawyer ownership in law firms and why these proposals are taken seriously in the first place.

In their unceasing drive to continue to non-lawyerize legal services, not only are they considering letting people who have no knowledge of the law at all run law firms, somebody apparently wants to allow other nonlawyers, i.e. paralegals, provide legal services. How about this: We let nonlawyers run law firms and otherwise provide legal services when we run out of actual lawyers.
