A Ft. Lauderdale law firm’s attempt to qualify its billboard pitch for insurance settlement services didn’t go far enough to satisfy the Board of Governors.

At a July 23 meeting on Miami Beach, the board found that B.B. Legal LLC’s proposed disclaimer, “Restrictions apply. Not all claims qualify,” was not “reasonably prominent” to qualify claims such as, “Don’t pay 30-40%” and “Pay 0% Attorney’s Fees if settles within 90 days.”

The board decision approved a Board Review Committee on Professional Ethics recommendation to uphold a Standing Committee on Advertising finding, BRC Chair Wayne Smith told fellow board members.
