Rep. Jim Boyd
Bills were filed in the Florida House and Senate on February 10 to address long-standing fiscal problems that have confronted county clerks of courts for several years.
SB 838, filed by Sen. Jim Boyd, R-Bradenton, and HB 903, filed by Rep. Webster Barnaby, R-Orange City, would address falling revenues for clerks from fines, fees, and court costs, and difficulties in establishing reserves to address crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. The Florida Court Clerks of Comptrollers worked with the legislators on the bills, which contained the FCCC’s At Your Service 2021 Clerk Legislative Priorities.
