Members of the public are invited to volunteer on or before March 22 for one three-year term on the Florida Board of Bar Examiners.  The Supreme Court of Florida will appoint one public member to serve on the Florida Board of Bar Examiners.

A public member volunteer must have a bachelor’s degree and be deemed qualified by the court to assess whether applicants for admission to The Florida Bar meet the essential eligibility requirements for admission under the Rules of the Supreme Court Relating to Admissions to the Bar. Past public member volunteers have possessed experience in education, medicine, psychology, science, accounting, statistical analysis, retired military, and various other professions. Lawyers are not eligible.

Board members of the Bar Examiners must be able to attend approximately ten meetings a year in various Florida locations, with travel and subsistence expenses reimbursed. Board members should be willing and able to devote the equivalent of three to four days’ work a month, or up to 350 or more hours per year on board business, depending on committee assignments.
