In a positive sign for a legal system struggling to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic, filings through the court system’s statewide electronic portal continued to rise in September and October, with each month setting a record for daily submissions.
According to information from the Florida Courts E-Filing Authority, 1.466 million documents were filed in September and 1.589 million in October. That left October just shy of the record monthly tally. That was one year earlier — October 2019 — which had 1.699 million filings.
It was also the best month since last January, which had about 300 more filings.
