As the legal profession continues to adapt to generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI), and a new generation of law students prepares to enter the profession, two challenges remain for law schools: how to prepare fledgling lawyers to engage Gen AI tools responsibly and acclimate students to the changing technological landscape in the profession.

At the University of Miami School of Law, part of the effort to address this is the student-led Artificial Intelligence Law Society (AILS). Launched this year, the society directs attention to the impacts and implications of AI and, equally importantly, how it can be leveraged to improve legal practice and enhance access to justice while undergirding the bedrock principles of justice and fairness.
