The friend-of-court brief argues that Trump’s order threatens “the bedrock rule of law principles and free speech imperatives at issue in this case.” The state attorneys general say they’re aware “the court system depends on the willingness of lawyers to take on difficult cases and unpopular clients without retribution.”
